Building a relationship with a horse from the ground up is crucial in the world of horse riding. The best combinations in dressage are people who have worked from the bottom.

The 14-year-old Tivona Pillay started riding at Glover Paddocks Equestrian Park at the tender age of eight, and attributes her success to determination, courage, hard work and having a committed coach.

Tivona who resides in Honey Ridge, Roodepoort proved that it is important to have such a partnership and connection with your horse when she put in a second-to-none performance at the recent Gauteng Inter-Regional Finals.

The Orion College learner was part of the West Regional horse riding team that participated at the event at Kyalami Park Club on September 4 and 5.
