Water restrictions for most of Region C

These restrictions were implemented to allow for the recovery of its network systems.

Rand Water’s bulk water supplier recently issued a notice that 20% water restrictions will affect municipalities throughout Gauteng. The notice said the network was under severe pressure as the demand for water consistently exceeded the supply.

These restrictions were implemented to allow for the recovery of its network systems and will impact some parts of Johannesburg during which residents will experience intermittent water supply.

“Furthermore, Rand Water had a power supply issue at their Zuikerbosh purification works yesterday, August 26, which negatively impacted on their Palmiet pumping system that feeds their Meyers Hill reservoir which supplies our South Hills tower. The reservoir is currently below the threshold at which we can pump into the tower, which means the tower area is currently without water supply,” City of Johannesburg spokesperson, Eleanor Mavimbela said in the notice.
