Training to help entrepreneurs achieve their goals

The course will be held in five sessions and participants will receive certificates on the last day

Residents of Zandspruit were visibly enthusiastic on August 18 as they attended the first day of the My Future training. The course provides training for entrepreneurs, outlining the steps needed to achieve their goals. Bonakele Yonke, who facilitated the training said the biggest obstacle for small businesses is budgeting. “You can’t manage your business budget if you aren’t managing your personal budget.”

The course will be held in five sessions – one session each on Wednesday and Thursday, and a final session on Friday, August 20 where participants will be awarded certificates of completion. During the first day, Yonke spoke about the importance of finding your purpose. He encouraged community members to find what they were good at and what they enjoyed. “Singers, actors and motivational speakers are sitting among you right now. Turn what you love into money. To identify your purpose, first know your gifts and secondly, find opportunities where you can use your gifts.”

The facilitator admitted that sometimes people get caught up in the struggle of life and forget their purpose. He said, “Life is difficult sometimes and there are many seasons in life. Sometimes things go well for us and other times things are hard. We are here today to find our purpose, to dream again and to learn how to do our planning and ultimately take action.”

The first session was packed with useful information and included an array of topics such as life areas, doors of opportunity, learning and self-improvement, learning from others, and action steps.

Maria Ezieke opened her own bakery and shared her entrepreneurship experience. “Working for yourself has no time frame. There is no rest. I use my free time for research and I try to find opportunities. But I did not want to work in an office so I take every opportunity that will help my business.”
