“The meeting is focused on the attack in Zandspruit and to make sure community members know and are aware of their rights,” Mangena explained. The meeting will be held virtually, and will be open to most community members.

Minister of Police, Bheki Cele recently postponed his visit to Zandspruit where he was scheduled to provide updates on developments relating to the killings. Cele met with community leadership structures and community members on May 22 in efforts to get to the bottom of what had sparked the killings. A task team was set up to identify problems within the police station, how to improve service delivery, as well as strengthen the relationship between the community and police.
