The Zandspruit community was shocked earlier today, 19 May, by an alleged incident of mob justice that left four people dead and five others injured.

It is reported that at approximately 2am, a group of about 200 people went out to search for the boys who were allegedly robbing the people in the Zandspruit area. It is alleged that about nine boys were forcefully taken to the sport grounds where they were assaulted; four consequently died and five were taken to hospital.
Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela condemned this incident and confirmed that cases of murder and attempted murder were under investigation to establish what had happened. He also ensured the community that the police were searching for the suspects.
