Robbers target another courier vehicle in Ruimsig – cellphones staken

Case opened after courier vehicle was ambushed and robbed of ten cellphones

Honeydew Police are looking for two male suspects after cellphones were stolen from a courier vehicle on 5 May. The incident happened on Van Dalen Street in Ruimsig while the courier was about to make a delivery.

According to WayGard Drift security company, their security officers saw what transpired and pressed their panic buttons. “While the courier company driver opened the vehicle window to press the intercom, two armed thugs jumped out of a white VW Jetta that had stopped behind the courier vehicle and prevented the driver from pressing the intercom,” said Simonne Prinsloo, public relations officer for WayGard. It later turned out that the number plates on the Jetta were false.

Prinsloo said the robbers took ten cellphones.

Captain Balan Muthan the Honeydew Police spokesperson said a lookout for the suspects had been issued. The investigation is ongoing.
