Man killed in Maraisburg accident off N1 south

Second similar incident in a matter of weeks claims the life of man in his thirties

The reoccurring tragedy of needless deaths on South African roads has another sad addition.

A man was killed just off the N1 south in Maraisburg when his vehicle crashed into a tree on 19 April. Paramedics responded to the incident shortly after 11pm to find the patient, believed to be in his thirties, trapped inside his vehicle. The man was travelling alone and his light motor vehicle was the only one involved in the incident.

“Medics assessed the man and found that he had already succumbed to his numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead,” confirmed ER24 communications officer, Russel Meiring. “The provincial fire services had to use specialised equipment to free the deceased from the vehicle,” he continued.

This incident marks the second similar accident in the area, and drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution at all times. Local authorities were on the scene and further investigations are under way.
