Caxton Joburg West ‘baking’ a difference

Cupcakes of HOPE has been spending the month baking up a storm for their #BakeADifference Campaign so Caxton Joburg West decided that we would try to show the NPO that Caxton Cares.

February is often referred to as the month of love, and because Cupcakes of HOPE has been spending the month baking up a storm for their #BakeADifference Campaign, Caxton Joburg West decided that we would share some love too.

Cupcakes of HOPE is a non-profit organisation that educates as many people as they can about childhood cancer while also raising money to assist desperate families with their child’s medical expenses. #BakeADifference sees volunteers, known as Cupcake Angels, bake and sell delicious cupcakes to help raise funds and awareness. With the money they raise, the organisation is able to help between 80 and 120 cancer patients per month, and the more donations they get, the more children they can help. With this being such an important initiative, Caxton Joburg West was more than willing to host a fundraiser at the office as part of the Caxton Cares Campaign.

Journalists from the Roodepoort Record and Randfontein Herald baked 60 cupcakes, which were brought to the office on 25 February. With some colourful balloons and informative flyers, the sale began. Thanks to the fact that nearly all of the cupcakes were sold, as well as generous donations from staff members, we managed to raise R640 for Cupcakes of HOPE, showing that Caxton really does care.

Lori-Anne Hill, a local representative of the NPO, happily accepted the donation the following day, expressing her utmost appreciation. “Thank you to everyone who baked and bought cupcakes. The help with all of the articles and the donation is amazing,” she said.

As with any Caxton Cares Campaign, helping people who need it is the end goal, and we hope that this project helped Cupcakes of HOPE reach their February target.
