Wings of Inspiration gives hope to desperate mothers

Wings of Inspiration has now taken even more steps to assist vulnerable West Rand community members and will be opening a Women and Children's Shelter in Krugersdorp.

Wings of Inspiration Care Centre is a non-profit company (NPC) based in Helderkruin, but it helps desperate people throughout the West Rand.

With their Sober House, Elderly Care Centre, Soup Kitchen, Play School and assistance with Dorah’s Ark, this organisation is the heart of local charity work. It was inspired by a family who had gone through their own share of hard times, but still identified the need to help others and then worked to fulfil their aspirations of becoming a part of the solution to the problems the less fortunate faced.

Mother Teresa once said, “We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for is the greatest poverty.” This is a quote being used as inspiration for the NPC’s newest project.

Wings of Inspiration has now taken even more steps to assist vulnerable West Rand community members and will be opening a Women and Children’s Shelter in Krugersdorp. Through this safe haven, the organisation hopes to restore hope to the women (and their children) who are at the end of their rope, either from homelessness, losing their jobs, or suffering abuse, neglect and trauma. The shelter will be opening in Wentworth Park on 1 March and will welcome those in need of help. “We will also take in young mothers who are homeless and looking to kick-start their lives for the sake of their children,” said the Wings of Inspiration team.

At the shelter, the women and children will receive counselling, life-skills training, emotional support, three meals a day, basic toiletries, and a warm bed to sleep in. The Wings of Inspiration team will work with the women to rehabilitate them back into society with the knowledge and skills of how to adequately support themselves and their children. The organisation will also assist the women with creating and updating their CVs, and help with job searches and referrals for possible employment opportunities. This is being done so that they don’t only give these women and children a safe haven, but a future as well.

For the mothers who are already working, but cannot afford for someone to look after their child, there will be a day care centre on the premises of the women’s shelter so mothers can have peace of mind that their children are well looked after while they make a living.
