Roodepoort has it better

He added that the suburb seems to be forgotten by the City as services – from water to electricity – are interrupted daily.

You may think you’re going through the most until you learn about your neighbour’s problems.

This is currently the case in Roodepoort with motorists complaining about the poor state of their roads. However, this hardly compares with the devastation the residents of Cosmo City face.

South Africa Drive is in a state of disrepair. The road isn’t only riddled with potholes, but it seems like a grader digs it up every night to irritate motorists in the area.

“The road is a disaster. This route has the highest traffic volume in our area, especially during peak hour traffic, but its condition is appalling and dangerous,” resident and car owner Simone Khumalo expressed his dismay.

He added that the suburb seems to be forgotten by the City as services – from water to electricity – are interrupted daily. “Cosmo has a lot of problems, and the poor road infrastructure is just compounding the problems,” he explained.

The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), the entity whose core competencies comprises road rehabilitation and maintenance, has been approached for comment on more than one occasion, without any success.

The roads we’ve highlighted in our previous articles, including Vieira and Juice Roads in Ruimisig and Honeydew respectively, have still not been repaired, and are a huge headache to the residents.
