As teachers, parents and learners make their final preparations for the beginning of the 2021 school year, the Gauteng Department of Education has released the public school term dates for the year to come.
Barring any possible disruptions, the dates for the four terms are:
Term 1: Monday 15 February to Friday 23 April
Term 2: Monday 3 May to Friday 9 July
Term 3: Monday 26 July to Friday 1 October
Term 4: Monday 11 October to Wednesday 15 December
The school year will again run into mid-December, meaning the July holidays will be a week shorter than the traditional three-week break. Easter weekend falls within the first week of April, with Good Friday and Easter Sunday on 2 and 4 April, respectively.
