Community organisations send messages of condolences for fallen colleague

“Sagren was a very good and loyal friend and colleague that was always around for the good and bad times with whatever was needed.”

A uniformed servant of the community who lost his battle with Covid-19 leaves behind countless members of a community he touched so dearly. Friends and colleagues of Constable Sagren Pillay pay their respects.

Sergeant Marcel Coutriers of the Johannesburg Flying Squad
You are home my brother.
Your shift is done.
You’ve done more than what you were expected to do.

You have not failed us and definitely not failed your community.
You clearly gave it all.
And through your selfless actions I pray that others will hear your call.
Take your place of honour Sagren
Among those who have gone before
and know you will be remembered now and evermore.

May the wind be always at your back
May the heavenly sun shine warm upon your face
And our Lord’s rains fall gently on your fields.
Until we meet again, brother, may God hold you in the palm of His hand

Ian ‘Worsie’ Janse van Rensburg of Emergency Control South Africa
As ECSA we were saddened by the news of the untimely passing of our dear friend and colleague, Constable Sagren Pillay. He will always be remembered by ourselves as an individual who was always willing to assist his community, a very family oriented person whose family was of utmost importance to him. We will surely miss his dedication and friendship, and wish to convey our sincere condolences to his wife and children.”

Prashan Sukhu, Chairperson of Florida Community Policing Forum
He was a loving and devoted father and husband to his wife and child, a man that always put his family above all else. He built a warm, stable and happy home where the door was always open and a warm welcome was always given. Sagren was a very good and loyal friend and colleague that was always around for the good and bad times with whatever was needed, be it a joke, a drink, a listening ear, a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on. He always delivered.

Sagren had no time for drama yet he found it in his heart and mind to volunteer his time and energy into the most dramatic of all things, community service. As a reservist Constable at Florida Police for 10 years he served the organisation with dedication and loyalty, and his community with selfless effort, professionalism and strong helpful hands. We will be there for his wife and daughter, and we will be there for his community. Rest in peace.
