Three killed after truck rolls in Witpoortjie

A horror incident along Main Reef Road has claimed three lives and left several more injured on Sunday, 22 November.

Bystanders and pedestrians were struck by a truck that rolled after reportedly attempting to navigate around a stationary taxi. City of Johannesburg EMS and ER24 arrived on scene just before 2.30pm to find two people trapped underneath the truck and another alongside the heavy vehicle. Sadly, all three suffered fatal injuries and were declared dead on scene.

All the patients are believed to have been adults. Two of the patients are believed to be from the truck and the remainder unfortunate bystanders. ER24 treated and transported six patients, one of whom required Advanced Life Support interventions and another five who had suffered minor injuries,” confirmed ER24 Communications Officer, Russel Meiring

Patients were taken to Leratong Hospital, and Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department were on scene to conduct further investigations.
