Local training academy eases the effects of Covid-19 on CANSA

The training the CANSA staff received was in First Aid Level 1

Health and safety training company Emcare Training Academy based in Weltevreden Park received a request from the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) to train some of their staff members. CANSA has also felt the impact of Covid-19 and did not have funds available for training.

According to Emcare, the academy gladly took on the challenge and the staff attended training with them in October.

The training the CANSA staff received was in First Aid Level 1, which is an introduction to emergency care that equips trainees with the skills to apply and perform basic first aid in emergencies.

The other subject was the basic firefighting training course which equips employees with the knowledge and necessary skills to manage and extinguish a fire at the workplace.

Upon completion certificates were handed over to the CANSA representative, Paulus Lekaka on 2 November after successfully finishing the basic firefighting training.

Hlengiwe Mthethwa was one of the First Aid facilitators who conducted the training for the CANSA staff.
