Naseem Slamang case postponed and moved to Regional Court

At roughly midday, the matter was moved to court K where the charges of theft added on 18 September were dropped.

The thorough and painstakingly meticulous processes of court proceedings are as necessary as the gallery benches are hard. A brief chapter has been added to the Naseem Slamang alleged kidnapping case, 15 October.

Concerned members of the accused’s family waited for much of the morning in court G of the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court complex. Charged with assault, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and alleged kidnapping for hurdling a restaurant banister and attacking a young child on 10 September, Slamang faced additional charges of theft relating to a warrant issued in 2018.

At roughly midday, the matter was moved to court K where the charges of theft added on 18 September were dropped. The accused’s defence claimed that the remainder of the investigations had not yet been completed but that the matter would now move to the Regional Courts. The matter was postponed and Slamang has been remanded in custody until his next appearance, scheduled for 3 November.
