Cash-in-transit truck collides with light motor vehicle in Witpoortjie

The female driver of the white Peugeot was travelling north on General Pienaar Avenue and the car was struck square on its right side by the CIT truck.

Nervous drivers can often be a hazard, and the spate of cash-in-transit heists across the city may rightfully have drivers on edge at the very sight of the armoured vehicles.

The often troublesome intersection at Ham Street and General Pienaar Avenue claimed another scalp on Monday 28 September, when a cash-in-transit vehicle collided with a light motor vehicle. The bright orange cones alongside the often targeted cash van may have had passing motorists fearing the worst, but the true nature of the scene was far less threatening.

The female driver of the white Peugeot was travelling north on General Pienaar Avenue and the car was struck square on its right side by the CIT truck. The armoured vehicle sustained little to no damage but the white hatchback had extensive damage along both door panels. There were no injuries but armed guards remained on high alert to prevent any opportunistic incidents before resuming their duties.
