Hirsch’s dives deep into survival guide

"The biggest blocks right now are judgement and fear of innovation. Fear blocks everything. We need to be adaptable, recognise our fear, navigate it and avoid getting sucked into it"

Hirsch’s Entrepreneurial Workshop recently hosted an important session about navigating around tough economic times.

Anchored by Hirsch’s Executive Director, Margaret Hirsch and top business coach for ActionCOACH, Marlene Powell, both pointed out that entrepreneurs needed to get out of their comfort zones and adapt to change to avoid being the victims of fear – and to live a life of abundance.

This fruitful topic of discussion had the guest speakers – Wealth chef Anne Wilson, and Innovation trainer Wendy Mahoney – citing some vital information on this topic.

Anne pointed out that money is an ingredient – an input. “We have to know ourselves and find joy in who we are before we get into the money side of things. Abundance is an activity and a choice we can make,” she pointed out. She also encouraged the audience to find a way to slow down their lives. “You need to take time to chew the cud to seek joy and abundance. Find joy in the minutiae of life and approach every day with wonder,” she explained.

Wendy said with the world changing at a rapid pace, innovation has been accelerated. “The biggest blocks right now are judgement and fear of innovation. Fear blocks everything. We need to be adaptable, recognise our fear, navigate it and avoid getting sucked into it,” she said.

Marlene weighed in by pointing out the importance of being comfortable with being uncomfortable, and to surround ourselves with people who bring out the best in us. “If you want to be happy in your business, fall in love with it. Make it your happy place, but know when to step back and work on your business, and not in it,” she said.

Margaret concluded the workshop by explaining that to fail was not a crime. “In fact, it will make you grow. Think of it as a First Attempt in Learning. Also never mind what other people think of you. You are enough,” she said.
