Join Hirsch’s next online marketing workshop
The next workshop is on Friday, 19 June at 11am and is titled Why Are You Procrastinating?
Margaret Hirsch, Executive Director of the Hirsch’s Group and Marlene Powell, a top business coach with ActionCOACH continue to field top speakers for their virtual Entrepreneurs Workshops that are held on a weekly basis, and last week was no exception.
Speakers included Melanie Hawken and Simon Grainger. Melanie is the founder and CEO of Lionesses of Africa, the non-profit organisation that has impacted the lives of over a million women entrepreneurs around Africa by allowing them to tell their stories.
Melanie pointed out that good marketing was all about telling stories.
“There is immense power in telling an authentic story. The business environment has changed and we need to change the way we think about it. We have watched how businesswomen around Africa have grown their businesses by telling their unique and fascinating stories. They got people talking about them by thinking big from the get-go.”
Simon, a sought-after speaker and the owner and founder of Brandbright Marketing said branding in the new normal has changed the way that businesses are speaking to their target market. “How are you speaking to your market? What are your goals? Do you have a clear brand identity in place? Be clear about what your call to action is,” he said.
He highlighted several successful marketing campaigns that have been run during this period, with all having successfully identified their target market and articulated a strong brand identity.
Marlene concluded the session by pointing out that the only way to succeed in business is to understand that marketing, sales and delivery have a 80 per cent part in a business’ cash flow.
“During this time we have had to pivot and re-plan. We need to look at how we were doing our marketing pre, during and post lockown, and plan a strategy for the future.?
“This is an excellent time to build strength and commitment in your businesses. You can’t judge the crew when the seas are calm, you need to judge them when the sea is rough!” were the final words from Margaret.
