Honeydew CPF is urging residents to be vigilant.

A video of a courier being robbed on Quail Street, Horison earlier yesterday morning, 28 May has surfaced on social media.

The courier, using a private vehicle, can be seen unloading the package to be delivered. A white Toyota Corolla stops behind him and two people get out of the car. While one of them was assaulting the courier, the other one loaded the packages from the courier vehicle into the boot of the Corolla before it speeds off.

Following the rise in these robberies and hijackings, the Honeydew CPF issued some helpful tips, urging residents to be vigilant:

• Please be careful when accepting a delivery. The criminals don’t care who is delivering or accepting the goods. They want the goods.
• Be aware of your surroundings. Take note of someone/ vehicle scouting your area, Don’t let your guard down.
• Remember vehicles (registration, colour and make) that are not seen frequently in the area.
• Most courier services (not all) deliver using fully branded vehicles. If there are other vehicles close by that don’t have branding or just act suspiciously, stay in your house and let the police/ local security companies know.
• If an incident does occur, get out of the danger area. Get in the house, lock doors, and call the police/ local security companies.
