Why can’t they keep it clean?

'I do realise what is on the school pavement is not their problem, but it would be appreciated if the school could take a share of the responsibility for the learners' littering.'

I am resorting to writing to the paper, because I feel perhaps Allen Glen may respond better than the zero response I received when I mailed them a few weeks ago.

As a resident in the area there is a constant litter issue on the pavement next to the school. Numerous taxis and school transport vehicles park next to the school.

Each and every day, once most of the learners have left the school, an unacceptable amount of litter has been left there. It never looks clean and tidy.

It is not pleasant to drive, run or walk through this litter. I therefore wrote to the school and asked if they could address the problem but, to date no one from the school has replied to me.

Is there anything else I can do as a resident? I do realise what is on the school pavement is not their problem, but it would be appreciated if the school could take a share of the responsibility for the learners’ littering.

My aim is simply a cleaner area at the school.

* The school was contacted for comment on the issue, and as soon as it is received, it will be published.
