Chatroom offers a caring community

The Chatroom offers support to people battling with cancer and to their loved ones, and encourages them not to feel alone in their journey but to be comfortable and talk about it.

On Saturday, 15 February, the West Rand Chatroom members met again at the NG Kerk Constantiakruin, and this time they were joined by a guest speaker who spoke about ozone therapy.

Organisers of the Chatroom, cancer patients and caregivers were given some insight into the subject and had an opportunity to ask some questions.

The Chatroom offers support to people battling with cancer and to their loved ones, and encourages them not to feel alone in their journey but to be comfortable and talk about it.

“The Chatroom recognises the importance of support groups for cancer survivors, caregivers and loved ones, and offers them the opportunity to join a caring community when they join their local Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) Support Group,” said West Rand Chatroom founder, Chrissie ten Krooden.

Founding member, Pat Moodliar handed out certificates of appreciation from CANSA to members of the Chatroom.

“Our active support groups connect cancer survivors, patients, their loved ones and caregivers with others who have been there to provide more understanding of their current situation,” added Chrissie.

Some of the benefits of support groups such as the West Rand Chatroom are that they provide a sense of belonging, access to information, referral to support services, knowledge of patients’ rights and a positive attitude.
