TMPD travels many kilometres to bust dagga farmers

They went on to interview the females who were in the yard and requested to inspect the premises.

Seven suspects – three women and four men – were brought to book on 23 November when they were busted for cultivating dagga.

Muldersdrift Police spokesperson, Constable Slindile Ntuli, said that Constable Pholoto from the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) received a tip-off regarding a possible dagga plantation in Nooitgedacht.

“When he and his other members arrived at the site, they saw three greenhouses with small plants,” she said. She added that they went on to interview the females who were in the yard and requested to inspect the premises.

“They small plants they discovered were identified as dagga. Inside the house the members found the four men with four bags of dry dagga and many buckets full of dagga,” Ntuli explained.

When questioned, the men identified themselves as workers on the farm. “They were arrested immediately for cultivating dagga and will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court,” she said.

The Muldersdrift Police station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mankontsho Setlhare weighed in by emphasising that there is no place for criminals in his precinct. He applauded the TMPD members for their hard work to apprehend the suspects.
