A discussion on Marijuana and its effects

On World Mental Health Day, the main event was a panel discussion based on the use of cannabis (marijuana) and its effects on mental health.

On Thursday 10 October, a group of third year Public Relations students from IIE MSA headed an awareness campaign for Thandanani centre in Florida.

The centre serves as a mental health institution for people who suffer from schizophrenia and bipolar.

This residential facility aims to show the residents’ ability to be functional in the work place and contribute to the community.

Thandanani residents make worm-shaped pillows, which they donate to schools that cater to children that suffer from cerebral palsy.

The third year IIE MSA students decided to use the drive (the collection of materials that will be used to make these pillows, which are intended to help the children to cope with the daily challenges associated with their disorder) as an awareness campaign point.

On World Mental Health Day, the main event was a panel discussion based on the use of cannabis (marijuana) and its effects on mental health.

The panel consisted of Margi Kink (Director of Thandanani Centre) Taonesesa Tiwanna Karidza (Mental Health Activist) and Banesa Ntseki (Medical Marijuana Specialist).
