Honeydew Police officer accused of ‘perverted’ tendency

"...A male cop wanted to speak to me before going inside the police station (I thought that I was going to give him a bribe and that was me going home after as that's what we all do to try get out of it) instead he asked me if I was married and that I should touch him to get out of my situation..."

A woman has accused a Honeydew Police officer of allegedly demanding ‘sexual favours’ after she was caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

This woman, whose identity cannot be revealed, took to her Facebook account to tell her story as a form of warning to her friends and followers.

The post was written on Thursday, 12 September, a day after the incident, according to the well-received post which has been shared more than 1 000 times, and garnered over 200 comments.

However, things allegedly went from bad to the worst, when she was being taken in by the officer/s on the scene.

According to the post, the offender was “taken to Honeydew Police Station. A male cop wanted to speak to me before going inside the police station. (I thought that I was going to give him a bribe and that was me going home after, as that’s what we all do to try get out of it). Instead, he asked me if I was married and that I should touch him to get out of my situation. … I told him I will not touch him and he should rather arrest me. … he threw my car keys at me and told me to f**k off (he did not realise that I’m a tough girl and I would not stand for that) … I did, because I was scared”.

She further warned, “I am just warning all women that this is what’s happening, obviously younger girls get scared because they do not want to be arrested or want their parents to find out so they do these sexual favours and it’s now become a thing. Please be vigilant … , as I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone. I am safe and I am okay”.

Honeydew Police Station was approached for comment on the matter. The spokesperson for the station, Captain Balan Muthan said, “No such case has been opened and no one was brought into the station on that day or night”.

“… and if it did happen, why has the woman not come back and reported the matter?” Muthan asked.

Rosenberg told Northsider that they were also made aware of the matter and have tried to reach out to the woman on her Facebook messenger, to no avail.

“I asked her to come forward and offered the services of a woman (trauma counsellor) should she feel comfortable speaking to one but she has not returned my message,” said Rosenberg.

The Northsider has also messaged her on Facebook, but we are also still awaiting a reply.

In a case where an officer acts unlawfully, Rosenberg advised civilians to try to get the identification of the officer or vehicle, the time and date. “This makes it easier to trace the officer who had been using that particular vehicle. Police vehicles have unique call numbers (e.g. RM15), and Metro vehicles carry identification marks, in the event that the officer is without a name badge,” he advised.
