Honeydew Equestrian Centre hosts dressage training show

Winning didn’t prove to be easy, as the competitors rode exceptional tests and some only won their class by just over a percentage.

On Sunday, 5 May, the Honeydew Equestrian Centre (HEC) hosted a dressage training show where riders from Honeydew Equestrian Centre, as well as other yards in the surrounding areas, participated.

The riders competed against each other to achieve the highest percentage for the tests in their chosen level. Each level consisted of two tests in which riders and their horses were expected to complete a series of predetermined movements (tests are learned and practised before the show). These movements were marked by the judge on the day of the show.

Riders were given a specific riding time and they generally had a caller who called the test for them, should they forget their tests or get a little lost because of show nerves.

The rider with the highest percentage in the respective test is the winner.

HEC would like to congratulate all the riders who competed and thank all the outside yards who brought riders to attend and test themselves against other competitors.

HEC would also like to thank the judge, Eleanor Wear, and all the people who assisted and made sure that the show ran like clockwork.
