Trinityhouse Little Falls High School’s chess continues to grow from strength to strength, as is shown by their latest impressive achievements.

Recently, nine chess players from the school competed in the D12 Individual trials. Four of them were selected to represent the district at the Gauteng Championship to be held in Pretoria on 25 May.

Players Tarryn Mail and Jordan John won all five of their games and came first in their respective categories (U/18 girls and U/15 boys).

In addition, Alicia van Blomestein and Jenica Jacobs came fourth and sixth in the U/15 girls category.

The senior chess team also claimed the status of being the best team in Roodepoort after winning against Princess High School in the final of the Roodepoort Schools Chess league where they won convincingly by 12–4.

The seniors also won all five of their games at the JNW Chess league held on 4 May. They won the B section and will move up to the A section in 2020.

“The school is so encouraged by the enthusiasm of our learners and the growth our chess has achieved. We are very proud of our chess players,” said David Brown, the senior deputy principal.
