ProTouch unveils second new signing, Clint Hendricks

One of the many highlights of Clint's career was earning a bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games Elite Men’s Road Race.

Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Clint Hendricks has now also put pen to paper to join ProTouch Cycling for the 2019 cycling season, following on behind Calvin Beneke.

Before finally breaking new ground on the domestic and international cycling scenes in 2015, Clint had enjoyed moderate success in a number of races between 2012 and 2014, having taken part in the U/23 World Cups in Italy, Holland and Belgium in 2012 as well as the Tour of Gironde and the All African Championships in 2013.

Clint’s breakthrough year finally came in 2015 when he dominated a number of domestic and international races, which included a whole host of podium finishes. This included second place finishes at the Tropicale Amissa Bongo, the 947 Cycle Challenge, the Wilro Lions Cycle Challenge, as well as, but not limited to, a second place finish in the Amashova Cycle Classic.

This monumental form continued in 2016, when he won both the Cape Town Cycle Tour and the Wilro Lions Cycle Classic as well as the Sprinters Classification in both the Clover Tour and the Tour of Good Hope. He also earned a second place in the Berge en Dale Cycle Classic, plus a third place in the Bestmed Satellite Cycle Classic, and on the international scene finished second in Stage 9 of the Antenne Réunion Tour.

The following was a little quieter, but he still won the Tour Durban and finished third in the The Herald Continental Cycle Tour. He was back to his best in 2018, as he was able to earn what was arguably the greatest achievement of his career thus far.

On the domestic scene, Clint claimed third in the Emperor’s Classic, while winning the Sprinters Classification in the Tour de Limpopo to go with his third in the General Classification. He also managed to bag an impressive win in The Herald Continental Cycle Tour, an improvement on his second-place finish the year before.

None of this could compare to what he would achieve on Australia’s Gold Coast however, as he won bronze in the Commonwealth Games Elite Men’s Road Race.

Clint was announced as ProTouch’s second new signing on 20 February, and will be joining ProTouch in the Herald Continental Cycle Tour in a bid to defend his title.
