First Chatroom meeting now behind us

While everyone is still getting used to being back at work, the West Rand Chatroom held its first meeting of the year.

After a successful 2018 that saw their member numbers double, the West Rand Chatroom held its first meeting of the year on Saturday, 12 January.

While some lucky people are still making their way back from holiday, most people are already back at work, and the Chatroom is no different. The Chatroom is purely a volunteer-based initiative, but they do immense work for cancer patients by creating an escape from the reality that they face on a daily basis while also providing respite from the continuous battle they fight with cancer, or simply their recovery from cancer therapy.

The Chatroom provides these opportunities for cancer patients in a safe space where people can come together and just talk, and talk, and talk to their heart’s delight. No specific topic, nothing of the sort, only happy friends and good vibes among all the participants.

At the first Chatroom of the year, the small group of 12 spent their get-together catching up on the fun everyone had over the December period. Be it Christmas, or New Year (believe me, the elderly people had the best stories), everyone was just happy to see everyone back safely.

The West Rand Chatroom will be getting together again for the second meeting of the year on Saturday, 9 February.
