Truck brakes fail on Doreen Road, collides with two vehicles

The incident occurred in the early hours of the evening

The brakes on a truck reportedly failed while travelling down Doreen Road earlier today, leading to a collision with two other vehicles.

According to a resident who claimed to be a witness to the accident, the driver of the truck had tried frantically to warn other drivers. However, due to the volume of the traffic, other motorists were unable to take swift enough action.

It is believed that the truck then collided with two other vehicles, leading to the truck overturning.

According to ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen, the driver of the truck and his passenger were entrapped in the cabin of the truck. Paramedics then had to extract the people by means of the jaws of life.

One occupant of the truck is believed to have sustained serious injuries, and the other moderate injuries.

It is further believed that one motorist was injured but refused transport to hospital.
