Pirates edge Panorama despite late comeback

Panorama's late comeback just wasn't enough for them to salvage a result.

Panorama Football Club’s SAB League side suffered their third defeat of the season, which was also the second in the league at that time, this time at the hands of Orlando Pirates, despite making a late comeback:

The Undertakers were initially scheduled to take on the Buccaneers on Sunday, 28 October at Randburg Football Club, but the fixture was postponed to Wednesday, 31 October at Panorama Football Club. While the night air around Panorama began cooling before the rain that would come the next day, things definitely heated up out on the pitch.

Home side Panorama were hoping to improve on a frustrating 1–1 draw at home with Inqaba Football Club, where they were unable to capitalise on a number of chances they created. Orlando Pirates, on the other hand, were also hoping to bounce back from a draw in their previous fixture, a 0–0 stalemate with the University of Johannesburg.

Panorama didn’t seem to help their own cause at all however, as a few mistakes on their part saw Pirates go on to claim a 3–0 lead. The Bucs managed to keep their comfortable three-goal cushion for the majority of the game, but their legs eventually began to tire.

The Undertakers’ refusal to go down easily, along with their fitness, played to their advantage as they soon broke their duck and scored two quick goals to see the game stand at 3–2 with little more than five minutes to go. Unfortunately for the home side, they just weren’t able to clinch the third goal, and Pirates returned home 3–2 victors.

The loss was Panorama’s second of the league, and only their third as an SAB League team, having lost only once in their pre-season preparations. Prior to the loss to Pirates, the only side that was able to one-up Panorama was Stars of Africa, who lie in second place on the SAB League Johannesburg log.
