Brazen robbers attack a Honeydew shop

According to the report, the security company's personnel met the traumatised shop-owner who described the incident.

Another shop in the Honeydew area has been a victim of a brazen robbery in less than a month.

A shop owner and keeper were left reeling from trauma after their shop in Honeydew was allegedly robbed by brazen suspects on 26 September.

This follows a similar incident which resulted in the injury of a shopkeeper earlier in the month in Zandspruit.

Drift Reaction officers responded to the incident in Honeydew after receiving a panic signal from the shop about 9am.

According to their report, their personnel met the traumatised shop owner who unpacked the incident to him.

She said that she was busy in her office when she saw a commotion downstairs at the cashier counter.

“She thought it was an argument between the cashier and a customer and as she walked down the stairs four armed suspects overpowered her and pushed her back into her office. They tried to tie her hands to her office chair but the cord was not long enough. They kept on asking where the safe was and threatened to shoot her if she tried anything. They ransacked the office going through all the drawers where they found the cash,” the report explained.

The security company obtained CCTV footage. They described that it showed armed suspects who were on the property for quite some time. They kept on walking in and out of the shop acting as customers.

“As our guard walked up to patrol the top section of the business they acted. The footage shows them overpowering the cashier pointing the firearms in her face demanding cash, her cell phone and cigarettes. She handed them the cash in the register. One suspect (look-out) stood at the door while casually drinking bottled water. He kept an eye on our security guard,” the report detailed.

According to the company, the entire robbery took about four minutes since they entered the shop.

No shots were fired and nobody was physically harmed although traumatised after their ordeal.

It is understood that both cases are under investigation at Honeydew Police Station.
