Security goes the extra mile to help resident

A Welties residence was burgled and a little puppy was among the stolen items.

Words cannot really explain how grateful a Weltevreden Park resident is to local security officers who went all out to recover her daughter’s stolen puppy last week.

The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, wrote to Beagle Watch in appreciation of what the officers did to reunite them with their Rottweiler puppy, which was stolen during a break-in on 27 June.

She said,“On 27 June, my residence was burgled. The perpetrator cut the electric fence at the back of my property to gain access. He broke a bedroom window and stole whatever he could via the broken window using a pipe which he ripped off my wall to pull items closer.”

“In addition, the Rottweiler puppy which I had just purchased the previous Sunday for my daughter was stolen as well. Needless to say, I was so angry, frustrated, devastated and heartbroken as I had to tell my little girl the bad news. I couldn’t have cared less about the broken windows and whatever was taken from the bedroom.”

She continued, “The Beagle Watch security officers were called upon immediately. They assessed the situation and upon hearing about the puppy, they spared no measures to find it. They immediately went around the surrounding area inquiring about it, and left in pursuit of a lead which they had obtained. They said they would be back.”

She added, “That night, I secured my premises once again, shattered as my daughter was devastated. She could not stop weeping.

I thought that all hope was lost as I had not heard back from the Beagle Watch officers. She cried herself to sleep.”

However, on the next day (28 June), she received a call which put a smile on their faces. “The next day, I was called to ask if the Beagle Security Officer could come to see me. I was not available due to work obligations, but I asked a friend to assist in my absence. They had caught the burglar. They interrogated him intensively and involved the police until he told them where the puppy was being held,” she explained.

The Beagle Watch officers subsequently reunited the family with their unharmed dog.
