Community educated about their rights

More explained that they elaborated on the rights of civilians when they become victims of crime, and what is expected from them.

A Johannesburg West Cluster Police station in partnership with social workers from the Department of Social Development spent their Human Rights Day at Jerusalem informal settlement, engaging residents about their rights.

“Our mission was to restore the relationship that we had with the residents before the murders in the area,” said Sergeant Mpho More, the Florida Police spokesperson.

More explained that they elaborated on the rights of civilians when they become victims of crime, and what is expected from them.

She added that they reassured the community that the murders are being investigated; however, police need their support as witnesses to these crimes. “Social workers also explained to them the services they render at their department and that everyone is welcome to come and make enquiries. Members of the community expressed their gratitude and promised that they will work hand in hand with the police to curb the killings in their area,” More concluded.
