Trinityhouse High School Little Falls matrics attain 100 per cent pass rate

The second group of Trinityhouse High School Little Falls matric learners also achieved a 100 per cent pass rate, as revealed during the announcement of the IEB results.

The beginning of a new chapter was cemented by the Grade 12 learners of 2017 who finally received their Independent Examination Board (IEB) matric results on 3 January.

Trinityhouse High School Little Falls, a private institution in the heart of Little Falls, was one of the schools that opened its gates for learners to get a rundown of their achievements.

A chuffed Lynne Davis, the principal of Trinityhouse High School Little Falls, reported a 100 per cent pass rate for the second time in a row. “The hard work of the Grade 12 learners combined with the commitment, dedication and devotion of the teaching staff to their learners have resulted in success.

The 100 per cent pass rate, the high percentage of bachelor degree passes and various successes by the learners of the Class of 2017 are most pleasing,” said Davis.

While an ecstatic mood surrounded the school, the cream of the crop was announced. They are none other than the former head girl and boy, Jordan Anastasiou and Jayson Pledger (both 18).

Jayson, who has been accepted into the University of Pretoria (Tuks) to study Actuarial Science obtained an impressive seven As with an average of 85 per cent. The youngster achieved 90 per cent in Mathematics and is convinced that his tertiary studies will be fitting because he enjoys working with numbers.Jordan said she was accepted into Stellenbosch University to pursue studies in Chemical Engineering. Despite topping her grade with an average of 86 per cent, Jordan was a bit disappointed in herself for failing to get As in all seven her subjects. “I was expecting seven As but missed it with one mark, so I will apply for a remark,” said Jordan, who is among the top one per cent of the IEB matrics for English (home language) and Life Sciences.

Senior deputy principal David Brown weighed in on the results. “This is the first group of which the majority started in Grade 8 as founding learners and our second matric group since the school’s establishment five years ago. I’m very proud of them. It is fitting that our former head boy and girl are our top two achievers. It was great to be part of their lives for a couple of years,” a proud Brown shared. Cameron Purdon clinched third place, achieving four As and 91 per cent for Accounting.

Joanne Brett, the Grade 12 tutor said, “These learners are an epitome of the servant leadership which is a philosophy of serving in such a way that you set an example for others to follow, which is what we value at the school”. Davis added that as a school they are committed to the continued success of all their future Grade 12 groups. “We will continue to work and strive for excellence, with our aim being to support each learner in attaining his/ her personal best results”.

She concluded by wishing the Class of 2017 every success in the future and encouraged them to rely on all the life lessons they have learned at school.
