RiverWel chairperson pleads for Honeydew CPF support

Thomson explained that donations must be made to the CPF.

RiverWel Residents’ Association chairperson, Kevin Thomson, is appealing to other RAs in the Honeydew Policing area to support the Honeydew Community Policing Forum with funding.

During the RA’s Annual General Meeting on 11 October, Thomson, indicated that funding was urgently needed by the Honeydew CPF, as very few of the sector’s 16 or so RAs assisted with the funding.

Thomson explained that donations must be made to the CPF in order to reimburse the trauma counsellors who give their valuable time, free of charge, to victims of crime, and for the CPF to run its office at Honeydew Police Station. He went on to talk about events that were hosted to raise funds for the forum. “Additional activities involving the Residents’ Association in the past year were the Annual River Cleanup (Klein Jukskei), CPF Sector 2 Fun Run/ Walk at Weltevreden Primary School, and the CPF Cresta Barnyard Fund Raiser,” Thomson said.

The Honeydew CPF thanked local residents in a Facebook post for attending their events. They revealed that from both Fun Run and Barnyard fundraiser events, they made a profit of just over R25 000. Thomson also thanked those who were able to participate in, and contribute to, the occasions.

He also commended Neville Burnett, the RA’s committee administrator, for his strict fiscal control of the association’s finances, as proven in the Income/ Expenditure presentation.
