Ngwenya Country Market keeps growing

The Ngwenya Country Market is held every first Sunday of the month.

The first Sunday of every month is becoming a popular festivity for locals who appreciate art and enjoy delicious foods, catered in over 50 stalls at the Ngwenya Country Market.

Individuals and families across Joburg flock to the market, which is situated at the Ngwenya Glass Village in Muldersdrift, to have fun and spend the day out while socialising, listening to a live band and deciding on which of the variety of food stalls to dig in at. Sunday, 1 October, was no different as the market was packed with outdoor enthusiasts.

Athalie Brett, the public relations officer, shed light on the market’s growth in the year since its inception. “It’s [the market] been doing very well. It has grown immensely and people are fighting to be here,” said Brett.

The market was established in August 2016, and has been described by its visitors as one of the best upmarket markets in Joburg.

Brett added that the market showcases 40 to 50 stalls. She also indicated that the market is a pet-friendly place and invited visitors to bring their dogs along for a day out.
