Children have a soccer blast for Youth Day in Weltevreden Park
WELTEVREDEN PARK – Kids Academy of Sports (Kaos) Fitness gets young ones from the community together for a fun soccer tournament on Youth Day.
It is said that sport can bring people together. Never was this truer than when Kids Academy of Sports (Kaos) Fitness hosted a soccer tournament at Weltevreden Park Primary School for Youth Day, 16 June.
Young teams came from as far as Westbury, Kagiso and Tshepisong for the event, which started with a light breakfast and motivational speech.
Soccer boots, bibs, balls and food were donated by the community and distributed to children on the day, before the soccer action started.
Samuel Sekoakoa, a member of Kaos – a fitness company based at the school, explained that the free event aimed to uplift children through sport.
“Our biggest objective is to help give kids a mindset, a positive attitude towards life,” he said.
“All the children are taught the value of life besides physical fitness, good morals and values. The respect and value system that the Kaos children possess is of high caliber.”
In between games, an excited coach Thato Segoe of Tshepisong Brazil, said the children were having a blast, and some of these players were so good they would probably go professional one day.
“Everybody is having fun, but also learning that sport is important and can take children away from the street, and doing wrong things. Players have also learnt respect and discipline,” he said.
