Last day fun in the park

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Schoolchildren of Vuleka St Michael's dress to impress on the last day of term.

Vuleka St Michael’s in Weltrevreden Park celebrated its last day of school with its annual fundraising walk.

Each grade dressed in a different theme and, as per tradition, walked to Excel Park on 31 March where they played before heading back to school and ended the day with an assembly.

“The children love to dress up. Some parents even buy outfits especially for today, ” said the principal of the school, Sharon Walker.

After the walk, schoolchildren were treated to hot dogs, juice and chips, after which certificates were given to the top achievers in each grade and Grade 7 prefects were announced.

Some schoolchildren received special awards for reading the most books or for being ‘green’ and picking up litter.

“The awards are given to encourage our children to keep up their good work and acknowledge their efforts,” said deputy principal, Marizka Wentzel.
