Taxi and bakkie collide in Constantia Kloof – 16 injured, 2 critical
CONSTANTIOA KLOOF – The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities are on scene for further investigations.
A total of 16 people were injured this morning when a bakkie and taxi collided on Christiaan de Wet Road in Constantia Kloof, according to ER24.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived at the scene and found the taxi on the side of the road against the barrier and the bakkie was found stationary in the middle of the road.
Several passengers from the taxi were found dazed and walking around on the scene. “Upon closer inspection, paramedics found two men lying trapped inside the front of the taxi. ER24 paramedics, along with provincial services, used specialised rescue tools to free both men from the vehicle,” said ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring.
Once freed, paramedics found that both men had sustained numerous injuries and were in a critical condition. The 14 other passengers had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured with advanced life support interventions and, once treated, they were transported to various hospitals for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known. Local authorities are investigating the matter.
