Thank you Joburg!

JOBURG - Ward councilor Amelia Bester and the Roodepoort Northsider team thank those who donated to flood victims.

The Roodepoort Northsider would like to thank members of the community who sacrificed their time and money to donate items to the flood victims.

The newspaper sent out a plea for donations on 10 November for victims who were affected by the extreme weather on 9 November. Nearly 100 black bags of items, such as clothes and nonperishable food, were donated.

Volunteer for the Boere Gemeenskap Transvaal, Paul Cronje, picked up the last batch of donations on 14 December on behalf of Ward 89 councillor Amelia Bester. Boere Gemeenskap Transvaal is an organisation which works to help disadvantaged individuals in the community.

“I would like to use this opportunity to thank the Roodepoort Northsider team and all of their readers for the continued support through donations of food and clothing to flood victims and less fortunate people in and around Johannesburg. Whilst we work hard to get the City working many residents experience the harsh reality of poverty and unemployment. You warm hearts have made a tremendous difference in keeping people hoping for a better tomorrow,” said Bester.
