Power off – still no answer

WELTEVREDEN PARK - Residents are seeking for answers as to why the power has been off since 2pm Wednesday.

Residents are desperate for answers as Weltevreden Park has been without power since 2pm on 10 August.

A resident who wishes to remain anonymous said he believes it may be a faulty cable and they do not know when the power will be restored. “I contacted City Power and they don’t do anything about our problem. It is so shocking when it comes to service delivery and we don’t get what we pay for,” said the resident. He added, they now pay more than ever for power, which they do not get.

City Power tweeted yesterday that technicians are attending to a faulty cable at the sub-station on JG Strydom Road.

According to reports, it is believed that City Power was working on the faulty cable when a water pipe was damaged. This is the reason why the power in Weltevreden Park still hasn’t been repaired. However, early this morning, City Power said on their Twitter account that power in the area is 86 per cent repaired, which is not the case.

Comment from City Power on the exact cause is awaited.

Details: City Power, 011 490 7000.
