Ruimsig represented in Rio

RUIMSIG – Maragon swimming coach, Tracy Hemphill will travel to Rio for the Olympics.

Maragon Ruimsig’s swimming coach, Tracey Hemphill, is off to the Rio Olympics to learn more about swimming on an international level.

When Hemphill attended a Swim Coaches of South Africa Association meeting last year, leaders in the association expressed they would like to see young coaches explore and gain exposure on an international arena, which is something Hemphill has always believed in.

“We have taken teams of swimmers to the USA and to Dubai in the last four years, all in an effort to expose them and myself as a coach. It is so important to evaluate oneself against the various grades and measurements. I saw this as another opportunity to gain further experience, and booked my ticket to Rio,” Hemphill explained.

Hemphill said the main focus of her visit will be to attend the swimming events, which take place from 5 to 12 August. However, she also looks forward to witnessing first-hand how the most elite athletes operate at crunch time, to see the interaction behind the scenes, to interact with swimmers and coaches from around the world and see what they do differently and to debate philosophy.

“We depart for Rio on 3 August, and will be attending the opening ceremony on 5 August. I will also be attending a high-performance conference at the Olympics on 9 and 10 August,” Hemphill added.

Details: Maragon Ruimsig, 011 958 0707.
