Nelson Mandela’s words, “A good head and a good heart are a formidable combination,” set the tone for a very special day at St Ansgar Combined School.
BM Food Manufactures and its brand, Mediterranean Delicacies, donated 160 litres of soup for the pupils to enjoy during their break time. Alistair Wood from Mediterranean Delicacies said they wanted to do something for Mandela Day.
“Our factory is across the road from the school and we must care for local communities as many of these children will join our company, one day,” said Wood. He added that soup was the obvious choice as it is goes down well during the winter weather. “These children are the future of our country,” said Wood.
Pupils of St Ansgar looked excited, as more than 800 of them received bowls of soup to warm their bodies as well as their spirits.
