MUST READ: Two suspects appear for triple murder

ROODEPOORT – Two suspects, Christiaan Kruger (29) and Fabian Luff (36) appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates court today in connection with the murder on Ruimsig Remax real estate agent, Hanle Lategan and two others, Kevin McAlpine and Anthony Scholefield.

Family members of the deceased and the accused sat in court with members of the media.

Regional Magistrate, Delize Smith first dealt with an application from various media houses to video record the proceedings and take photos in court. “This could influence the investigation as identity parades will still be done, said Smith.  After input from State Advocate Jackie Steyn, who will be prosecuring in this case as well as  legal representatives for the accused, Smith ruled that no videos or photos will be  allowed in court.

Smith also stated that this does not rule out the possibility that videos and photos would be allowed with future court appearances of the accused.

The court heard that two new accused, a 20-year-old male and a 18-year-old female who were taken into custody last night have been added as two new accused in the case. Read more on this here: BREAKING NEWS: 2 more suspects arrested for estate agent murder

The state asked that the formal bail application be postponed to Monday 27 June. Regional Magistrate Smith explained that she is not opposed to the application for postponement and therefore the case was postponed until Monday 27 June.

Court orderlies escorted Kruger and Luff to the holding cells. Family members of Hanle Lategan spoke to Roodepoort Northsider outside the court. Story to follow.
