Balloons released for freedom

The Honeydew Police and Leapfrog visited Gateway School as part of their awareness campaign for Child Protection week.

Children of the Gateway School were very happy and excited when the police arrived at the school on 2 June during Child Protection week. According to the spokesperson for Honeydew Police, Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs the children were taught the 10111 number and the police spoke to them about bullying, theft and the importance of not letting anyone touch your body.

The principal of the Leapfrog Roodepoort branch, Johan van Schalkwyk, said that their partnership with the police and other initiatives is important because it promotes the freedom of children. He added that the releasing of the balloons was symbolical of how children in South Africa should be, free of any harm.
