Head-on collision leaves six injured

KLOOFENDAL –Head-on collision causes multiple injuries on Christiaan De Wet Road.

Netcare 911 paramedics responded to what they described as a horrific head-on collision at 8.17pm on 27 February.

The collision involved a bakkie and a Trail Blazer along Christiaan De Wet and Wilgerood roads in Kloofendal. Exact detail to the cause of the crash is still speculative and will form part of a police investigation.

Netcare 911 media liaison Chris Botha said, “Paramedics arrived at the scene and were faced with carnage, the twisted frames of the vehicles and accident debris consistent with that of a high impact collision was spread over about fifty meters of roadway.”

After the injured were triaged, it was found that one adult and a six-year-old-girl sustained life-threatening injuries, four other were in a serious condition.

Paramedics and firefighters worked hand in hand to stabilise the injured at the scene .

“The critically injured child was airlifted with the Netcare medical helicopter to a specialised facility. The other patients were transported by ambulances from various services to nearby hospitals for the care that they required,” said Botha.
