WELTEVREDEN PARK – FC Real showcase the club's best at the end-of-year awards ceremony.

FC Real hosted its awards ceremony on 5 December at Weltevreden Park Primary School. The event saw players being praised and acknowledged for all the hard work they had put in throughout the year.

The football club, which is now in its third year of success and is lead by dedicated coach Bevan Bowers, can proudly boast that they have some of the most devoted soccer players, both young and old. The awards day celebrated all the club players and further praised those who stood out from the rest.

“The club has grown dramatically through the years – we are now a club that has 120 members across the board,” said Bowers.

On the day, the certificates and trophies won by the deserving members, drew excited faces from the children and looks of complete pride from the parents.

U11 player of the year Luke Mclaren, said he was attracted to the sport when he was just four years old.

“It interested me when I was younger and ever since I’ve just wanted to play,” said Mclaren, “One day, I plan on being a professional football player.”

“We don’t look for the best, we develop the best,”said Bowers.

FC Real prides itself in wanting to be a club that develops the country’s best future footballers by staying true to its ethos of being a strong foundation for its members, where they feel encouraged to break through to greater opportunities.

The Weltevreden Park-based club is set on reviving football, making sure not to let any attempts at a hat trick to success pass them by. Next year, the club intends on putting even more focus on women’s football. The club aims to dribble its way toward ensuring that they give their members the best start in their careers.

The club encourages the introduction of new members who either want to take up the sport professionally or play to keep fit.

“The passion for soccer is deeply entrenched in the club and its members, and it is shown by the level of astounding talent we have here,” said Bowers.
