GALLERY: Golden players get golden awards

Golden Eagles and Golden Drifters celebrated the hard work of the netball girls and soccer boys on 5 December at the Al Fresco restaurant.

Nomathemba Shava and Proud Shoko awarded the children who achieved greatly throughout the sports year.

Mtswaki Phooko spoke to the players and congratulated them on their achievements.

“When receiving this award, you must realise that your coaches take you seriously and so should you.”

She added, “You are all winners by being part of the team, use it to inspire and motivate others.”

The children from these teams come from Zandspruit, the Lion Park area and Cosmo City.

Through Nomathemba Statutory and Protection Services (Nostaps), Child Services and Home at Eden Traders, players are guided away from possible negative influences common on the streets of Joburg.

“We are still growing our netball team but we are proud of both the Drifters and the Eagles for all their dedication,” said Shava.

Sponsors and donors Joy Lerm, Shannon Allan and Karen Bell were at the ceremony held to hand over the special achievement certificate, medals and trophies.
