Ruimsig Maragon Private Schools was awarded during the Biannual Gold Awards Ceremony held on 7 October at St John’s College in Houghton.

Advtech Ruimsig marketing manager Belinda Espag said the evening was filled with celebration and inspirational speeches from award holders.

Espag said Rhona Crawford, Ruimsig Maragon Private School’s drama teacher was awarded with the President’s Award.

“Seeing that I am too old to receive a Gold Award, this is probably the closest I will ever come to it,” said Crawford.

Crawford added this award is the best symbol of gratitude and recognition she has ever received.

Some dignitaries such as the CEO for The President’s Award, Lara Kruiskamp and MEC for Education in Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi were there to hand out awards.

Espag said three Maragon students were commended for their dedication and hard work towards the community and each received a Gold Award.

“A Gold Award is received after three years of community service, two years skills and physical development, three adventurous journeys of two weeks in three different years and a residential project each week, “explained Espag.

Maragon students Erin Crawford, Esteè Strydom and Layla Norman received Gold Awards.
