GALLERY: ‘Engage or perish’

JOBURG - Celebrities back the launch of The No Crime Culture education campaign.

The No Crime Culture campaign website was launched on 30 September at Mount Usambara, Krugersdorp. Mr South Africa, and Ruimsig resident, Armand du Plessis was one of five directors joining CEO, Jolène Leeuwner-Maritz in the launch of the campaign.

‘Engage or perish’ was the slogan for the crime education campaign. It is premised on the widespread notion that crime takes place due to a lack of inhibitors from an individual. The project aims to introduce moral responsibility training at different foundation levels in children and young adults to promote moral behavior. The project will focus on funding research on the matter, introducing anti-criminal education on a school and home front, and providing good ambassadors with the introduction of a ‘Justice pageant’ set to take place in December. The project was endorsed by the Gauteng Department of Education

Du Plessis was not the only star to join the directors, as Mrs Globe Riana Mooi also declared her support. Advocate Pieter ‘PG’ Leeuwner, Hangweni Nengovhela and Jan Maritz were also named as directors on the project.

Leeuwner-Maritz asked that the guests support the project through donation and by spreading the word. “As it stands I have a very slim chance of watching [my kids] grow up,” Leewner-Maritz said, quoting the latest crime statistics, “I have to change that, and so do you.”
